NHS Dentists in Manchester
There is a wide variety of dental services in Manchester. The most significant difference between particular offers is the one concerning NHS dentistry and private dentistry. Some of the treatments are available only privately, especially those of cosmetic nature. These include for example white fillings. There is a difference in prices for particular treatments between NHS and private practice. The cost is usually higher in private clinics. However, there is a number of benefits coming from investing more money into treatment. They include greater flexibility when booking appointments, or the possibility of choosing the dentist, which also means closer relationship between the patient and the dentist. The private practitioners usually also spend more time with their patients and therefore know their needs better.
As far as payments are concerned, there are basically three levels of charges, depending on the types of treatment. The basic treatment includes an examination, diagnosis, advice, and a scale and polish – if necessary. Another level includes everything listed above plus fillings or root canal work. The third level covers the two above and additionally includes crowns, dentures, or bridges.
The current prices are displayed in particular clinics. Some exceptions from charges include pregnant women and under 18s. There are three types of charges that an NHS dentists in Bristol apply (set by Department of Health):
- £16.50 Examination and diagnosis
- £45.60 Examination and extra treatment, such as fillings, root canal treatment or extractions
- £198 The treatments covered in first two bands and other, more advanced treatments (i.e. dentures or crowns)
